My 100 things

I’ve finally reached my 100th post. I’ve been waiting a long time for this, so I’m finally going to take a stab at my list of 100 things you may or may not know about me.

1. My father died of cancer when I was 4 years old.
2. I think my mother is the most amazing woman in the world to be widowed at 27 with two young girls.
3. I love my stepfather like he is my real dad and I feel very fortunate that I have had two dads in my life.
4. I miss my hometown a lot more than I ever thought I would.
5. I hate brussel sprouts.
6. I love green beans.
7. My little sister and I have an ongoing feud about a “supposed” broken window during high school. Little sister says that I threw a yearbook at her during a fight and it hit the window and broke it. Nobody but her remembers this happening, although my mom does vaguely remember replacing a window.
8. The only time I’ve been in the hospital was in 8th grade when I ran into a moving car while riding my bike. I hurt my backside and had to sit on a donut thingy for a week.
9. I love romance novels.
10. I read an average of one to two books per weeks.
11. I love food.
12. I am obsessed with food.
13. I have a very difficult time maintaining a single digit pant size simply because I love food.
14. I’m not very fond of the gym.
15. I have one little sister and two older stepsisters.
16. One of my older stepsisters used to be a nun, but now she is married.
17. My freshman year of high school I made $1,000 babysitting.
18. My first real job was at Dickman Farms transplanting plants every day after school and on Saturdays.
19. I’ve also worked as a playground director, at a pizza shop, as a substitute teacher, an ESL teacher, a tutor, a receptionist, an office manager and as a property manager.
20. My all time favorite job was when I worked in the facilities department of the Olympic Village for the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Games.
21. I met Prince Albert when I did the check out inspection of his room in the Village and he showed me where the lamp cut his arm.
22. I believe I am only 3 degrees away from Kevin Bacon since I met Kyra Sedgwick while babysitting a bunch of kids at this huge old mansion in my hometown when an old lady died and a bunch of people came in for her funeral. The kids turned out to be cousins with her and my sister and I discovered that when Kyra walked into the old mansion and sat down with us and the kids for a bit.
23. I don’t know how to drive stick, despite the fact that my dad owns a used car business.
24. My first car was a 1989 two toned blue mercury linx that I bought from my dad for $650.
25. My little linx died two years to the date that I purchased it on the NY State Thruway on the way home from Six Flags.
26. My husband leaves mail all over the house and I hate it but I never bother doing anything about it.
27. I started Invisalign last November to get rid of the space between my front teeth.
28. I want to start trying to have a baby NOW!
29. I consider myself more of a dog person, but I absolutely adore my cat.
30. I first became an aunt when I was 9 years old.
31. I haven’t been sick since April 2005.
32. I’m not much of a fruit or vegetable person.
33. My husband won’t eat pork, but it is by far my favorite meat.
34. My favorite holiday is Christmas.
35. I am addicted to My Space.
36. I am still bitter that my photographer at my wedding didn’t take a lot of shots that I would have liked.
37. I go to bed by 9pm almost every weeknight.
38. I love old houses.
39. I am not a very big fan of snow.
40. I truly love my job.
41. I wake up around 5:15am every weekday.
42. I’m discovering that I am not as good of a housekeeper as I always thought I was.
43. I love Starbucks grande non-fat hot chocolates with whip cream.
44. I like to ski but only go about once a year so I’m not very good.
45. I wear suits to work about 3 of the 5 work days each week.
46. I love chicken wings from Nino’s Pizzeria in my hometown.
47. I think that Wegmans is the best grocery store in the entire world.
48. I have been searching for a church that we can go to as a family since I am Catholic and my husband is Seventh Day Adventist.
49. I love pepsi because I wasn’t allowed to have it until I got out on my own.
50. My favorite memory growing up is pasta dinners every Sunday with the entire family.
51. I don’t have any of the blogs that I read listed on my sidebar since I haven’t had the time to figure out how to do that.
52. I usually work very hard at work and am quite busy, but I do most of my blogging from the office.
53. I’ve never been out of the US other than Mexico (once) and Canada (many, many times).
54. I really want to go to Australia and New Zealand.
55. I have a weakness for chocolate chip cookies from Specialties.
56. I’ve never been to the ballet.
57. I miss my Grandma more than I ever thought possible and not a day goes by that I don’t think about her.
58. I could eat pizza every single day and not get sick of it.
59. I don’t really enjoy shopping all that much.
60. I am pretty much always cold.
61. I think San Francisco is the best city in the US.
62. I had mono when I was in 5th grade.
63. I had chicken pox when I was in 9th grade.
64. I was a cheerleader from 5th grade until my sophomore year of college.
65. I coached 6th grade cheerleaders from the time I was in 9th grade until my junior year of college.
66. I’ve gotten really lazy about shaving my legs ever since getting married.
67. I love my new house.
68. I hate how much work my new house is.
69. My great grandmother passed away 5 years ago at the age of 104.
70. I hate cranberries with a passion.
71. My husband gave me pepper spray last Christmas after I made a big stink about needing it, and I haven’t yet even put it in my purse.
72. I always slept with the door to the bedroom closed until we got a cat.
73. I occasionally get jealous of my best friends lives even though I am always so happy for the things that they have and I love my own life.
74. I have my real estate license.
75. I got into Cornell as a transfer student my junior year.
76. I have only shared my blog with two people that I know in real life.
77. I’m not really into sports at all.
78. I love home improvement shows.
79. I also love most sitcoms.
80. My favorite show lately is Grey’s Anatomy.
81. I realized how truly blessed I am with great friends at my wedding.
82. I love the engagement ring and wedding band that my husband picked out for me but I occasionally break out in a rash on my index finger from it whenever the weather changes.
83. I am completely, 100% tone deaf and am not all that into music as a result.
84. I wish I had a fashion sense but I just don’t.
85. I love kids and until I moved to SF I babysat every chance that I got.
86. I’m down to owing less than $3,000 from my student loan.
87. I am very much afraid of spiders.
88. I love rollercoasters.
89. I love giving gifts to people.
90. I am very proud of the programs that I made for my wedding.
91. I’m not a big fan of wearing my hair long but I haven’t cut it off because my husband really likes it long.
92. I was extremely underpaid when I first moved to San Francisco and it took me 4 years and 4 different jobs to get up to the level I’m now at.
93. My desk usually has at least 10-15 yellow post it notes on it at all times.
94. I make a list at the end of each work day with all the things I want to accomplish the following work day.
95. I am extremely anal and organized at work, but have really let things slip at home.
96. I absolutely adore my little sister and it makes me so, so sad that she lives so far away.
97. Until about 4 years ago I hated my big boobs (34F) and was always extremely self conscious about them. I only gave up on getting a reduction when I finally gained some confidence and stopped letting it bother me when people made comments.
98. I stopped shopping at Victoria’s Secret when the saleslady told me that they only made anything larger than a D cup in a 36 or above and that “The have nothing for me at Victoria’s Secret.”
99. Since getting married I've always imagined that we will have 2 boys, Joseph Edward & James Adam, and 2 girls, Ava & Isabel (middle names TBD).
100. I’m very proud that I made it through this list and still feel like I haven’t given away all of my secrets.

I'm sorry to hear about your dad's death, but it looks like you were very fortunate to have found a great step dad.

Laura, sorry to hear about your loss as well. I was lucky enough to have two dads, but I still wish every day that I had gotten a chance to know my real dad. I'm sure you feel the same way.
